FAQ & Getting Started

We know that starting therapy can feel like a big step. Here are answers to some common questions to help you feel prepared and safe as we begin this journey together.

How do online sessions work?

Online sessions are conducted via a secure, encrypted video platform specifically designed for healthcare. All you need is a private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. It allows for the same 'human-first' connection from the comfort of your own environment.

Is therapy confidential?

Absolutely. Your privacy is a foundational part of our work. We adhere to strict legal and ethical standards to ensure your personal information remains confidential. Any exceptions to confidentiality—such as safety concerns—will be clearly discussed during your first session.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. This policy ensures that we can offer the appointment time to other individuals who may be waiting for support. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee.

What issues do you support?

We work with a wide range of human experiences, including anxiety, trauma, borderline personality disorder and emotional regulation. We also provide neuro-affirming support, ensuring that our therapy is tailored to how your unique brain processes the world.

How many sessions will I need?

This is highly individualized. Some people find the tools they need within 6–10 sessions, while others benefit from ongoing support as they navigate deeper layers of growth. We focus on realistic expectations and your personal goals, adjusting the pace as needed.

How do I prepare for my first appointment?

Complete your electronic intake forms ahead of time, find a quiet space where you won't be interrupted, and perhaps have some water or a notebook nearby. There’s no need to have everything 'figured out'—just come as you are.

Are you licensed for my province?

We will soon be licensed to provide mental health counselling services to residents of Alberta. All virtual sessions are conducted in alignment with the regulations of Alberta and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA).  Additionally, Alyssa is in the process of obtaining the requirements to provide counselling services in B.C as well.

How do I get started?

The simplest way is to book a free 15-minute consultation through our online portal. It's a low-pressure way to meet, discuss your needs, and see if our 'human-first' approach feels like the right fit for you.

The Journey Towards Clarity

We prioritize your sense of security from the very first interaction. Here is how we begin our work together and answers to the common questions you may be holding.

How to Begin

  • 01. Book a Discovery Call: A free 15-minute consultation to explore your needs and ensure our approach aligns with your goals.
  • 02. Complete Intake Forms: You'll receive secure, confidential digital forms to share your history at your own pace.
  • 03. Schedule Your Intake: Once reviewed, we meet for your first full appointment to begin building a plan together.

Digital Care

  • Virtual Sessions: We meet via a secure video platform. No specialized software is needed; just a private link.
  • Confidentiality: Your privacy is a legal requirement. Our sessions are a strictly confidential space for honest exploration.

Essential Readiness

  • Cancellations: We require 24 hours' notice for cancellations. Any cancellation after 24 hours will require full payment.
  • Issues Supported: We provide care for anxiety, trauma, ADHD,  ASD, and BPD for clients in Alberta with additional skill building programs for clients in Alberta and B.C.
  • Number of sessions: Change is collaborative. While some find brief intervention helpful, others prefer long-term support.
  • How to prepare: Find a private corner, bring a warm drink, and know that you don't need all the answers ready.

Safety & Clarity

We begin with a complimentary 15-minute intake call to ensure we're the right match. This is a warm, low-pressure space to ask questions. Following this, your first full session focuses on establishing a foundation of trust, deep listening, and clarifying realistic expectations for the work we will do forward together.
